Recess For Groan-Ups

Recess for groan-ups...what a concept! Recess relieves tension & stress. Engage in a little play...Learn to juggle or yo-yo, read a joke book, blow bubbles, wear a clown nose...etc. Have some fun and take a 10-15 minute recess!

Stress Management Ideas That Work!

Being able to manage stress is important in living a happy, healthy and productive life.

Here are some techniques and strategies to help you deal effectively with stress:
* Establish and maintain a regular program of good health habits, healthy eating and adequate sleep.

* Strike a balance between work and play. All work and no play can leave you uptight. Playing relaxes your mind and it's a good escape from life's worries.

* Laugh! Keep your sense of humor. Laughter releases tension in your body. Learn to laugh as a relaxation technique.

* Learn acceptance. Change what you can and learn to accept the rest.

* Exercise. It promotes physical and emotional well being.

* Help others. Sometimes helping others is the perfect remedy for whatever is troubling you.

* Temporarily escape. When you feel like you are going nowhere with a problem take a temporary diversion. Go for a drive, go to a movie, take
a walk, read a book....etc. Temporarily leaving a difficult problem can change your attitude.

* Modify the environment. Get rid of the stress or manage your exposure to the things that cause stress.

* Develop and maintain a more positive outlook. Look upon challenges as opportunities or blessings.

* Get plenty of rest. Tired people tend to be less civil and are more irritable. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. Most adults require at least 8 hours daily.

* Reward yourself daily. Do something just for you! Have a bubble bath, call a good friend, picnic in the park during lunchtime, buy some flowers, or give yourself some "me time".

A Squeaker....Don't Leave Home Without It!

Why squeak?
--Get free hotel upgrades by making the desk clerk laugh!
--Give a little humor break to boring business meetings.
--Create a shared laugh & better rapport with clients.
--Put the people around you in the spirit of fun!

--Press elevator buttons and make them squeak.
Do Nothing. Don't react at all. Just stand back and enjoy the funny looks.

--Try on a new pair of shoes at a shoe store.
Wait for the salesperson to ask you to walk in them to test them out. Squeak every time you step with your right foot.

--Squeak your nose.
It gives kids giggle-fits and will make adults smile. Once you get good with your squeaker technique you can make your kids' noses squeak too. They love it.

Squeakers.....don't leave home without one!

Dress For Fun!

Wear something frivolous – every day if appropriate. It doesn’t have to be visible: ‘naughty’ underwear, silly socks, etc. The fact that you have this on will remind you not to take yourself so seriously.

Make this philosophy visible by having a ‘Dress for Fun Friday’ – just like a Casual Friday, except staff have to add something specifically for fun – silly earrings, bad ties, fun hats, etc.

Decorate Your Space

Encourage your office staff to introduce fun into their own work area. Toys, stickers, photos, whatever will lighten up their day. Don’t let ‘office neatness’ rules get in the way – anything less that a safety or fire hazard should be allowed. The boss can set the example with a hat rack full of silly hats and a Goofy soft toy sitting atop the computer screen. Follow the same rule in areas where clients go. Who wants to do business with people who don’t have a sense of humor?
